desmos art
i make a lot of art in desmos so it deserves its own page
desmos is an online graphing calculator that i learned about during a math class, but i was so excited to learn that it can also be used to create art. i believe math is beautiful and creative, and every component of my artwork in desmos is derived from a mathematical equation. by using certain mathematical formulas and equations, i can derive a moving, fluid and dynamic piece of art. below i’ve linked some graphs that i’m particularly proud of:

planet iii was a bit of a passion project for me, combining my love of art and passion for math. this was selected as a winner in the 15 – 16 year old age group, out of thousands of entries from over 20 countries, in the desmos 2023 global math art contest. the elements of the artwork are based off of my personal experiences, such as the mountains representing my love for hiking and the lighthouse representing my affinity for beaches. if you click on the sideways triangles you can view all the math equations that went into creating this artwork, and in several places i include additional details regarding my creative process and a couple of early design prototypes. please be sure to zoom out the graph to get the full effect.
